WHY USE DIGITAL MARKETING FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Digital marketing is a great tool to share your business, your brand, your products and services with both clients, potential clients, and the wider public.

What can be off putting for some businesses is that they do not know which digital tools they need to be using for their business, and immediately it goes in the too hard basket.

For some businesses a mix of both digital and traditional marketing may be the way to go, below I share some of the more common digital tools that people are using.

For more information on any of these just get in touch and I will be happy to help you work through the pros and cons for your business.

Email marketing
Email marketing, electronic newsletters, EDMs these are all terms associated with sending emails to your clients, and prospects.  People who have signed up on your website, Facebook, or through a lead generation campaign.  Content for these could include useful tips, company news, sales offers, promotions and more.  They need to be easy to read, catch the eye, and have a well thought out subject line so people are enticed to open it.  You are competing with the many thousands of other businesses that are sending your clients emails every day.

Website and Google My Business
Ah the good ole website, yes you do need one. It doesn't need to be fancy or expensive, it needs to be well thought out and mobile responsive.  Though it is getting harder and harder to rank well in Google these days, if you have a website you will appear there.  It is equally important to claim your Google My Business Page, because this will 9/10 times mean you appear on the first page of a Google Search. It is a handy tool for people to Call, Get Directions, and Visit your Website directly from, particularly on mobile - with just one click.

Blogging
Writing blog posts, or articles is a great way to build your digital footprint, grow your reputation as an expert, and build up a resource of information online.  How to videos, what do I do if... questions answered, technical knowledge explained in plain english are some great topics that people are searching for every day online.  If you schedule blog writing into your week and ideas into a content schedule then it is more likely you will achieve the goal.

Social media
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, and more new ones coming out every day, which platform do you choose?  The good thing is you don't need to do them all!  Each will have its benefits depending on your type of business and where your target audience sits.  If you are an interior designer Pinterest may have more merit than Twitter, or if you are primarily a B2B LinkedIn may be the go over Facebook.Once you have chosen the platform/s you want to use determine how much time you have to spend on it, and set some objectives.  It can take several months and much experimentation, then analysis of your results to see if you are getting a ROI.
