Now that we have the ability to post long form on LinkedIn where should I be putting my content?
Consider the audience you have on LinkedIn is different to that on your blog. For the most part, people you are connected to on LinkedIn you know or have some form of relationship with. Then there are your followers, people who like what you are saying and choose to follow you to see your posts appear in their news feeds, plus you have the added bonus of getting your post featured in Pulse when you write a long form post on LinkedIn.
When you post on LinkedIn these posts appear at the top of your profile, they are shared with your network of connections and people that follow you. LinkedIn can also promote your content in the regular Pulse emails that are sent to people, under the “Published by your network” section.
High profile users of LinkedIn and Influencers have had the ability to post long form posts for several years now, and this has formed the basis for the credibility LinkedIn has as a platform for sharing content. People using LinkedIn are generally business-to-business professionals that read the articles on here for quality content.
When creating your content, put links within your blog and your LinkedIn posts to other quality content on each platform to send people in either direction. You don’t have to create brand new content but you could look at existing content that has worked well on your blog in the past and recreate this as a LinkedIn post, getting your content in front of a new audience.
One important thing to do on both, whichever way you go is to include a call to action.
Both your blog and LinkedIn can drive engagement with your brand as you start conversations in the comments section, in turn building your thought leadership status as you show people you know your stuff.
Where do you post and why, what benefits does each have for you? I would love to know.
